முன்னும் பின்னும் சேர்க்க வேண்டும்.

இரண்டு சொற்களை வள்ளுவர் பயன்படுத்தியுள்ளார்
அறிவுடையோரிடம் கொண்ட நட்பு ,கேண்மை என்ற சொல்லாலும்,
பேதையரோடு கொண்ட தொடர்பு நட்பு என்று சொல்லாலும் குறிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது
கேண்மை நெருங்கிய உறவைக் குறிக்கும்.
அறிவுடையோரிடம் கொண்ட கேண்மை பிறைமதி…. நிறை நீர…
பேதையரோடு கொண்ட தொடர்பு நட்பு பிறைமதி பின் நீர
பிறைமதி வளர்வதைப் போல கேண்மை சிறிது சிறிதாக வளர்ந்து நிறைவாக முழு மதியைப் போல வாழ்வில் ஒளியைத் தரும் . அந்த நட்பு உறவாக மாற வாய்ப்புள்ளது.
பேதையரோடு கொண்ட நட்பு பிறை மதி போல சிறிது சிறிதாக தேய்ந்து ,நிறைவில் இருள் அடைந்து விடும் .வாழ்வில் இருள் சேர்க்கும்.

The friendship of the wise is like the waxing moon;
The friendship of the foolish is like the waning moon.
Using the moon as a metaphor, Valluvar reveals an important truth.
The terms “crescent moon” is used in both the places .one is waxing moon, other one is waning moon
– The friendship of the wise is like the waxing crescent moon
– The friendship of the foolish is like the waning crescent moon.
Valluvar uses the terms “friendship” and “companionship.”
The relationship with wise people is referred to as “companionship,”while the relationship with foolish people is referred to as “friendship.”
“Companionship” denotes a close relationship.
Though it is similar to friendship there is subtle difference. A person one calls a companion is usually their friend or romantic partner. But the word companionship specifically implies that a lot of time is spent in each other’s company.
The companionship with wise people is like the crescent moon… waxing…
The relationship with foolish people is like the waning moon.
As the crescent moon grows, the companionship gradually grows and becomes full, like the full moon, bringing light into life. This friendship has the potential to turn into a lasting relationship.
The friendship with foolish people, like the waning moon, gradually diminishes and eventually leads to darkness, bringing darkness into life.
Wise men’s friendship waxes like the crescent moon,
and fools’, like the full moon, wanes.
