R.K.Gupta, a wayfarer on the path of Sufism, is a disciple of Paramsant Thakur Ram Singhji, who served the police department to earn his livelihood, but was not a policeman by heart. Justice Sheetla Prasad Bajpai, who was the then Head of the Chief Court at Jaipur had said about him- “The authors of Criminal Procedure Code could not have thought of a police officer like Thakur Ram Singh, whose words carry more weight than the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code.” He had become a legend during his service period, whose honesty and integrity was unparalleled and people had started calling him “Sant Thanedar”, who would not drink even water from a public well unless he paid for it. Thakur Ram Singhji used to address his Guru-Mahatma Shri Ramchandraji Maharaj, who was the first duly authorised non-Muslim (a Hindu) Sufi saint of the Naqshbandi Order, as “Guru-Bhagwan” and used to be so absorbed in his thoughts that at times he would forget his own name.
At the age of 15, R.K.Gupta was taken to Thakur Ram Singhji by his father and was fortunate to be at his feet for about five years after which he was under the tutelage of his father Mahatma Dr. Chandra Gupta and brother Mahatma Shri Krishna Kumar Gupta, who belonged to the chain of Sufis of the Naqshbandi Sufi Order.
Academically R.K.Gupta is an engineering and law graduate. He joined the IRS (Customs & Central Excise) Service in 1974 and superannuated in 2012 from the post of Chairman, Settlement Commission.
