The ‘Kural Maanavar’ program, launched by the Virudhunagar district administration, encourages schoolchildren to study and memorize the 1330 couplets of Thirukkural.
This initiative aims to foster an appreciation for Tamil literature by selecting one student from each of the 300 schools across the district—students who have demonstrated a keen interest in reading and understanding Thirukkural.
A residential camp has been organized where these students are taught not only to memorize the couplets but also to comprehend their deep meanings and values. The camp includes sessions led by trained teachers, scholars, and literary experts who highlight the significance of Thirukkural in life and education.
Additionally, the program motivates and guides participants to take part in a Tamil development department’s cash award program designed for those who have memorized all 1330 couplets of Thirukkural.
